The 17th release comes from an upcoming artists with tracks lined up to be released on labels like Counter Intelligence and Subvert Central Recordings and Moving Shadow and Make:Shift. Dissident also has numerous tracks released on a variety of labels such as Renegade Hardware, Russian label Respect Records, and TAM Records, which he is the co-owner of along side DJ Bes. Dissident has also DJ'd alongside big names like Goldie, Bad Company, Fabio, Grooverider, Matrix, LTJ Bukem, Paradox, Nookie, Seba and many others.
He kicks off XGN017 with Operated Dream. A malaise of metallic beats for the heads pervades the sinister feel of this stepper filled with rolling snares and ragga vibes.The rolling bassline carries the tracks underbelly while the reggae MCing maintains the flow.
There's loads of variety in the breaks used in this tune without going over the top to make this tune a top notch piece of work.
The B-side, Fluter In Hell starts off with groovesome bongos that introduce the tune by snaking their way round a stepping break. Snake charming flutes and subtle strings echo behind the rolling breaks.
This is then inflected with a quaking sub writhing beneath, while technoidal noise makes the groove more expansive swinging things out as more hi hats attack and keep things tense. Some eerie cinematic business.

Miosis and fluctuation in the rabbit pupil
In the unanesthetized rabbit, morphine (12-16 mg/kg i.v.) produced a miosis that was not sustained. The response to the narcotic was a pupillary constriction that became maximal within 2 minutes following i.v. administration, after which time the pupil size fluctuated appreciably. The magnitude of the fluctuation, typically as high as 40% of control diameter, was much larger than can be attributed to 'noise.' The fluctuations occurred within a frequency of approximately 0.5 to 2/min. The miosis and subsequent fluctuation seen with 12 and 16 mg/kg of morphine was blocked by naloxone (0.5 mg/kg i.v.), but 128 mg/kg of morphine overcame the block. Cumulative dose-response curves for morphine and for morphine after naloxone yielded the value pA2=6.8 which is in agreement with the values obtained using other effects and species. Administration of morphine after exposure to high intensity light produced less miosis than that seen under normal illumination.

Nerdcore or Geeksta Rap?
Tupac and Biggie, move over. A new hip-hop feud is brewing that glamorizes not guns and 'hos but Java and secure encryption algorithms.
While gangsta rap is seen as celebrating the violence and aggression that claimed two of its brightest stars, "geeksta" rap is a hip-hop genre celebrating coding skills and school grades.
Also dubbed "nerdcore," this branch of hip-hop is for geeks, by geeks. Geeksta rappers adopt the same combative verbal-assault stylings of their forerunners, but bust rhymes about elite script compiling and dope machine code.
The term was first coined in 2000 by nerdy New York rapper MC Frontalot in a track of the same name. Nerdcore now refers to artists waxing lyrical about topics as disparate as engineering and Lord of the Rings.
In recent months, the field has seen a growing number of releases from computer science labs, where egocentric grad students show off their Ph.D. credentials in tracks like "Have to Code" and "End of File."
"The stigma that was once attached to computer geeks and role-playing nerds is diminishing incredibly fast," said "digital gangster" Bryce Case Jr., aka ytcracker. "It has almost become trendy to have skills on a computer. Rather than guns and 'hos, I speak about DDOS attacks and camgirls."
The self-proclaimed "#1 greatest computer science gangsta rapper ever" is MC Plus+, a geeksta leading light whose moniker comes from the C++ programming language.
The Purdue University, Indiana, Ph.D. candidate and "CS pimp," whose album Algorhythms was recorded with pirated software, calls himself "the Tupac of the computer science world."

Apple's Intel Mac
Apple's Intel-based Mac development kits have started trickling into developer's hands, Think Secret has learned.
The Apple Development Platform ADP2,1, as the systems are officially designated, features 3.6GHz Pentium 4 processors with 2MB of L2 cache operating on an 800MHz bus with 1GB of RAM.
The Intel systems run Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger identically on the surface as ordinary Macs, with the exception of a modified Processor System Preference (from Apple's CHUD tools) that allows the user to toggle Hyper-Threading on or off. Apple System Profiler includes a new line under Hardware listing CPU Features; for the 3.6GHz Pentium 4 this comprises a rather lengthy list of technical acronyms: FPU, VME, DE, PSE, TSC, MSR, PAE, MCE, CX8, APIC, SEP, MTRR, PGE, MCA, CMOV, PAT, PSE36, CLFSH, DS, SCPI, MMX, FXSR, SSE, SEE2, SS, HTT, TM, SSE3, MON, DSCPL, EST, TM2, CX16, and TPR.
Apple's System Profiler reports the graphics card as an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 800. Inside the Intel Mac, DVI support for the video card is provided by a Silicon Image Orion ADD2-N Dual Pad x16.
