After nearly 3 years of association with 1Xtra I’m very sad to say I’ll be leaving my Mix Show at the end of July. I’ve loved doing the show and I’m gutted to be leaving but unfortunately with my general work schedule increasing so much something has to give and I’m not in the position to commit myself to the station as much as required.”

“I want to big up all the listeners who tuned in week in week out because its you guys that have made it what it is. I also want to send a big thank you to everyone at 1Xtra and everyone that has guested on the show over the past year or so. I will be touring the USA on the 14th July but I’ll be back on the 28th for an absolutely massive show with some big guests! Hopefully we can match the vibes when Marky, Dynamite and SP came on.

Spending half their time in Miami, the other half in London, Cyantific are swift to point out that Lizards run the US government:

Amazingly, both Matt & John’s collective theories on life are comparatively just as interesting as their theories on music production. Working from a G4, Logic 7 setup, The Cyants claim never to have used Recycle-they prefer to do it the old fashioned way, like they did in the 1800s:

“We like to make a lot of the sounds you hear ourselves. Failing that, we just sample something and cut it as audio I guess. Finding the right samples however is a different story- it’s like searching for a needle in a hay stack, you have to dig that little bit deeper to find the gold- the weirder and more unlikely the source, the better.”

Cyantific’s most recent release: ‘Don’t Follow’, featuring Diane Charlemagne caused ructions in the drum and bass scene. It’s no wonder why when you have the use of amazing talent at your fingertips:

“Working with Diane has been a fantastic learning experience. She’s more than a session singer- she’s an amazingly talented musician in her own
right, and she takes charge of a session to make sure you get the best result out of her. It’s not something we’ve found with other singers. We’re working on a few more tracks with her for the album”.

Cyantific’s album is due for release in February 2006 and is to include some interesting collaborations from the likes of Logistics, Matrix and Diane Charlemagne. The Pre-album build up has been crazy, with the duo finding themselves booked for gigs on a regular basis. Coming up in August is their US tour, and I wondered, which is better? the UK or the US?:

“Everywhere has some good and some bad nights. No one place is the best, they’re just different. However, people abroad have a different perspective on the music, its fresher to some places. I suppose it’s that different perspective that gives it an extra something.”

Greasemonkey IS Insecure

Uninstall Greasemonkey altogether. At this point, I don't trust having it on my computer at all. I would think that whoever is in charge of addons.mozilla.org should immediately remove the Greasemonkey XPI and post a large warning in its place advising people to uninstall it.

Mr2001 writes "A recent thread on the Greasemonkey mailing list suggests that the popular Firefox extension is fatally insecure. It seems rogue pages can read any file from your disk and send it to any site, using an XmlHttpRequest. Time to uninstall GM?"

Ozone Media 320 [new label]

Ozone Media will be launching a net-based D&B MP3 label called Ozone Media 320 as a part of a new online umbrella site, MP320.com. The site is still in the construction phases, but I have seen some previews and feel confident that the site should be launching soon. Thus far, we have several songs that we plan on releasing, but are still waiting on contracts, etc., for finalization.

Our first finalized signing is Subz & Mightiness out of Germany with the absolutely storming "Close My Eyes." The Ozone kru have ben rinsing this for several months now and have been a lot of positive feedback. Click on the banner below to listen to a 2 minute clip! Limited Edition Hunter S. Thompson Beer

Flying Dog Ales of Denver, Colorado released a new, limited edition Gonzo Imperial Porter. This beer is dedicated to Hunter S. Thompson and the proceeds go towards the Gonzo Memorial Fist. This is a great way to contribute to the memory of such an amazing person and partake in an excellent, onetimeonly beer. Since there were only 2000 cases produced, you should go out and get yourself a 4-pack asap. Though it's $8 for a 4, which is definitely a little pricey, consider how much you guys pay for a crappy beer at a bar and that your money will be going to a good cause. The beer is definitely worth it: it's a nice dark porter with a strong chocolate flavor.

Like the other Flying Dogs, the Gonzo porter has crazy artwork by Ralph Steadman, who you are probably at least somewhat familiar with if you know something about Thompson. If you aren't, he's the guy who did the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas cover. Check it out:
